Our school celebrated Literacy Day with a unique event that left a lasting impact on us all. Instead of focusing on reading and writing skills, the event was all about knowing the stories and life struggles of our school’s support staff. It was an eye-opening experience for all of us. The event was organized by the school students, and we worked hard by planning the whole event and maintaining decorum in the class. We asked questions when there was not anything to talk about, and we made sure that the support staff was comfortable sharing their stories. What made the event truly special was the moment of happiness we received after listening to their stories and determination. We learned about the struggles and challenges that they faced in their lives and how they overcame them with determination. The event was a reminder that literacy is not just about reading and writing. It’s about understanding the world around us and the people who make our lives easier. We realized that everyone has a story to tell, and it’s our responsibility to listen to them and learn from their experiences.<\/p>\n

LO1:Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the event, we learned about the struggles and challenges that our school’s support staff faced in their lives. We also got to know about their determination and grit, which helped them overcome those challenges. It made us more aware of their strengths and areas for growth, and we realised the importance of respecting and valuing the efforts of all members of our school community.<\/p>\n

LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process<\/span><\/p>\n

Organizing the event was a challenging task, and we had to work hard to plan and execute it. We had to come up with unique ideas to make the event engaging and interactive for everyone. We also had to maintain decorum in the class and ensure that everyone was comfortable sharing their stories. Through the event, we learned the importance of taking on new challenges and working hard to achieve our goals.<\/p>\n

LO5:Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was organized by the school students, and we had to work collaboratively to plan and execute it successfully. We had to delegate tasks, communicate effectively, and work together as a team to make the event a success. Through the event, we learned the benefits of working collaboratively and demonstrated our communication, organization, and leadership skills.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, the Literacy Day event organized by our school students helped us develop several IB CAS learning outcomes. We gained awareness of strengths and areas for growth, took on new challenges, and demonstrated our collaboration skills. The event was an excellent opportunity for us to learn and grow as individuals and as a community.<\/p>\n
