Farewell Dance Team – Creativity

As a rite of passage, each year in our school, the juniors are tasked with handing out a farewell to their seniors and a memorable one at that. I, for one, was a part of the dance team. Preparing for the G12 farewell dance was a challenging task. We had to brainstorm multiple ideas and practice rigorously for the different dances. I was part of all the dances, which meant putting in extra effort to perfect each one. Despite conflicts that arose within the team, we managed to keep our cool and show dedication and passion towards our dances. We also helped with the decor, as the workload was overwhelming. When it was time for the dances, we took to the stage with confidence and grace, executing each move with precision and passion. Our teachers and the G12 seniors were blown away by our performance, and the feeling of pride that we all felt was indescribable. The experience taught us to work together as a team, forming strong bonds that will stay with us forever. Dancing on the day of the G12 farewell was an unforgettable experience that we will always cherish. It was a testament to what we can achieve when we put our minds to something and work together.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:

Being a part of the dance team required us to brainstorm multiple ideas, practice rigorously, and show our passion to express gratitude to our seniors in a way that would touch their hearts. I overcame my stage fright by giving my all and giving a core memory they would cherish their entire life. Conflicts were inevitable but we managed to keep our cool and work through the challenges together. Through this experience, I developed new skills in time management, teamwork, and perseverance.

LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Preparing for the G12 farewell dance required a high level of commitment and perseverance. We spent countless hours practicing the dances, finalizing the decor, and planning the itinerary for the day. Time and time again, we had to redo a few of the dances and decor to make it as appealing and pleasing as possible. This required a high level of commitment as you had to be ready to start again from scratch till mere perfection was achieved.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The G12 farewell dance was a team effort, and we had to work collaboratively to make it a success. Working together in a group, you come to realize, each individual has their own strengths and weaknesses, and different perspectives as well. While having a discussion in regards to the way we wanted to plan the farewell, each of our team members had different ideas to pitch and different scopes that were to be explored. Each one of us did unbiased scrutiny of the other’s work, and after taking into consideration all the pros and cons listed down all the shortcomings and strengths, this way we were able to minimize the cons by building up on each other’s ideas, achieved perfection which otherwise wasn’t possible. We demonstrated the learner profiles as Open-Minded, Communicators, Thinkers as well as knowledgeable during the same.
