Taking part in a programming bootcamp was one of the most intense and rewarding experiences of my life. The bootcamp I attended was a virtual program that promised to turn anyone into a software developer, regardless of their background or experience level. I was excited but also nervous because I had very little programming knowledge beforehand.
LOs met:
- LO1
At the start of this programming bootcamp, I found out that although I am really good at theory-based programming (with console-based output), I can still improve in applying those theories and concepts together to create algorithms. Throughout the bootcamp, I have worked on the same and have become a lot better in the same. - LO2
This bootcamp had multiple boss-level challenges after every section was completed where I had to apply all of the skills I learned in that section to create an algorithm as a solution to the problem. The challenges really gave me a hard time when I had to deal with situations that I hadn’t faced before since keeping every concept in mind while trying to come up with a solution is a challenge in itself. - LO3
Since the course was so long, I had to plan out the whole thing and come up with a daily schedule to complete the course in the least amount of time so I decided to work on the course for at least 1 hour a day (except weekends) so that I don’t burn out and am able to complete the course effectively and efficiently. - LO4
The bootcamp had over 65.5 hours of video content + multiple challenges adding up to 100+ hours of actual length. Although at times I did not have the motivation to continue and felt bored, IÂ persevered, found ways to make the learning enjoyable, and stayed committed to completing the course. - LO7
If I did not follow my schedule, it would have had many setbacks and would lead to me procrastinating and skipping the learning on multiple days so I had to reconsider the choice of not working on the course on certain days so that it doesn’t interfere with the completion of the course and does not lead to any learning loss.
Overall, taking part in the programming bootcamp was a challenging but immensely rewarding experience. It gave me the skills and confidence I needed to pursue a career in software development, and I would recommend it to anyone who is passionate about coding and eager to learn.
