RobinHood Army (Community Service)

The Robin Hood Army (RHA) stands as a charitable organization devoted to addressing the prevalent challenges of food wastage and hunger in India and beyond. RHA operates solely through the efforts of volunteers, who collaborate either individually or in groups to collect surplus food from restaurants, coffee shops, and similar establishments. Subsequently, this surplus food is distributed to individuals facing food insecurity. In addition to its primary mission, RHA also endeavors to provide basic education opportunities for disadvantaged students living in impoverished areas.

My participation in RHA as part of my CAS experience has significantly deepened my comprehension of a substantial global issue. Engaging with RHA has emphasized the critical importance of addressing these challenges to pave the way for a brighter future for our nation.

Learning Outcomes:

LO 2 – Illustrate the undertaking of challenges and the development of new skills

Initially, I grappled with the task of allocating time to an endeavor that didn’t immediately capture my interest. However, as I cultivated a genuine passion for assisting the less fortunate, dedicating more time to this service became increasingly natural. Collaborating with fellow volunteers to support those in need not only enriched my communication and interpersonal skills but also refined my time management abilities. This proved particularly challenging as I had to balance volunteering alongside demanding academic commitments and impending deadlines.

LO 4 – Demonstrate dedication to and perseverance in CAS experiences

This marked my inaugural experience engaging with an organization like the Robin Hood Army for the societal betterment. Initially prompted by the need to fulfill my CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) commitment through participation in food drives, my investment of time revealed the potential to positively impact a larger number of individuals. What commenced as a short-term endeavor evolved into several months of dedicated service within the group, resulting in a meaningful contribution to society. My leisure hours soon became intertwined with the Robin Hood Army, as I found immense satisfaction in volunteering and supporting their cause.

LO 5 – Showcase the skills and acknowledge the benefits of collaborative work

Within just one month, I earned a promotion to the role of a ‘robin,’ as mentioned earlier. In this capacity, I assumed the responsibility of closely collaborating with numerous fellow volunteers. Our teamwork played a pivotal role in identifying suitable venues and securing sponsors for our drives. The synergy that emerged from our joint efforts streamlined tasks and enhanced effectiveness for all involved. Consequently, we efficiently organized drives that accommodated a growing number of volunteers.

LO 6 – Demonstrate involvement with issues of global significance

Participating in events, I gained a broader perspective on the local issue in my region within the context of global concerns. The concept of “Zero Hunger and Quality Education” has been acknowledged as a sustainable development objective, encompassing crucial themes. As a volunteer with the Robin Hood Army, I actively participated in activities and initiatives aligned with the overarching mission of promoting “Zero Hunger and Quality Education.”
