Pollution in the environment has recently become a significant concern. From global warming to air pollution and water pollution, the effects on humans are devastating. I decided to take a initiative to clean the beach as much as possible and contribute to making even the slightest difference possible.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
When I gave the worldwide problem of water contamination more thought, I understood how crucial it is to act. CAS provided me the chance to do something about this problem, thus I started this programme of beach cleaning where I visit various beaches in my city and do as much as I can to keep them clean.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
I dedicated 2 hours to cleaning an area of the beach where I committedly collected various kinds of plastic waste like bottles, bags and food packets.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
I collaborated with my friends to amplify the effectiveness of collecting waste
Me collaborating with my friends helped me collect a lot more waste than I could collect by myself and also we could cover a larger area on the beach.
We successfully collected a lot of plastic waste.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.
Looking at the current state of our environment, polluting the environment is one of the major global issues right now. We, humans, rely on the environment so much that we are harming our environment directly or indirectly. One of the environmental issues is pollution in water bodies which not only causes further problems to marine life but damages one of the essential natural resources. Plastic waste is a part of water, air and land pollution. Specifically talking about plastic waste on the beach is polluting water and land, and the species of animals living in it
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
I planned the idea and decide to clean an area of the beach. Performing this act contributed to many things such as encouraging other people and contributing to conserving marine life. On world coastal cleanup day I participated in the social cause of cleaning and help contribute to saving marine life.
Final takeaway.
This CAS experience has thought me to think about global issues and how important it is for me to contribute and help take small steps towards saving the environment and encouraging people to do the same.
