French Immersion Event (Creativity)

The French Immersion Event took place on the 13th of January, 2023. Organizing an event to promote the French language and to appreciate Francophone countries was a rewarding experience. The event helped to show others what an intriguing and beautiful language french is. It was entertaining and ended with the audience learning things about the language- like basic french phrases, greetings- and the francophone countries.

LO-2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
Organizing an event is a tedious task. Planning and preparation is a process that requires critical thinking, communication, and organizing skills. It requires forethought about the time, place, venue, audience, and more. To have a successful event, we had to make sure the activities were engaging where the audience had a fun time yet also learned a bit about the french language and the francophone countries. The experience ended with me gaining leadership skills and getting in touch with my creative side.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
The planning was a month-long process that required commitment and determination. We had to come in early and prepare for the decor of the event. There were times when we lagged behind our schedule but we worked hard to meet our goals. As the leader of the decor team, I had to plan out everything we needed and how we were going to decorate the venue and keep a check that everything was done smoothly and on time.

LO-5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Organizing this event was a group task. We all had to work collaboratively to organize a successful event. It required effective communication, active problem-solving, a clear division of roles and responsibilities, and constructive feedback from all members. Even when we faced certain problems, working together helped get us past all of them. Working together helped us identify our strengths and weaknesses. Though there were conflicts of opinion sometimes, we learned how to communicate better and solved all our problems effectively.

The experience helped display my leadership skills as we planned and executed the event. It showed the attribute of being a communicator and learning how to work with others and successfully execute the event. I also gained a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of Francophone countries and learned a lot more about the french language.
