Educational Trip to Mount Abu

This year, Mount Abu, a location known for its natural setting surrounding nature, wildlife, and the adventures that come with it, was chosen as the location for our school’s educational trip. Trekking was the core activity throughout the trip, which allowed us to connect with one another and see nature in all its glory. There, we gained knowledge about various aspects of nature, including the fauna and flora. We had the chance to learn about nature, which was fascinating and taught us a lot about surviving.

  • LO 2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

A challenge that I faced during this trip was trekking because I personally am not used to walking for far distances, that too up and down a steep hill, so that was a challenge that was tiring but fun also the same because I saw my surrounding through the lens of beauty and nature, this allowed me to feel free and also have fun. Something that I learned during my time spent in trekking was during one of the trekking, we had rocking climbing that needed certain techniques that we had to perform in order to go into caves as well as climb steep mountains.

  • LO 4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Trekking was a challenge for me on this trip because I’m not used to walking long distances, much less even up a rocky hillside. While being challenging, it was also enjoyable because it made me see my surroundings through the eyes of beauty and nature, which helped me feel free and enjoy my time there. I discovered something throughout my time spent trekking: on one of the treks, we had rock climbing that required specific methods in order for us to enter caves and climb difficult slopes.

  • LO 5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

We had Team Games scheduled for the third day of our trip. The facilitators that helped us with trekking and caving also organized those team-building games. The team-building activities were designed so that everyone could enjoy their time there while learning the value of teamwork, the ethics involved, and how it helps each of us develop individually.

Normally, I don’t enjoy hiking, going on adventures, or stepping outside of my comfort zone, and this trip was no exception. But, I had a wonderful time with my friends and received the best assistance from the teachers and facilitators there.
