Learning Folk dance for Navratri

My cultural folk dance known as Garba done at a festival called Navratri which is a nine-night festival where everyone meets at night after dinner and starts the festival with a puja of goddess Durga wishing for good health and wealth, and with goddess Durga’s blessing the dancing begins. Due to Covid, the festival was not celebrated for 2 years because of this I forgot the bits of the dance, and therefore I joined the class to recall the dance and be able to play during the nine nights at an event.

Navratri has been my favourite festival since childhood, wearing artistic attire (Chanya – choli), pray to goddess Durga, folk dancing to folk songs, have late night snacks, sleep late, and wake up early in the morning for school and again going back to the event with same energy and enthusiasm. All parts of the Navratri are the best and my dearest.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Having the stamina to play for 3 hours continuously was a little difficult after not having done any physical exercise for years. To overcome this challenge, I joined a garba class, to increase my stamina and develop my skills in dancing. During my classes, I learned dandiya and developed my stamina at the class.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in the CAS experience.
Due to lack of sleep because of the late-night dancing, it was hard to wake up early in the morning for school, but to go to the event the next night, I had to save energy and go to school, to balance my fun and education. Because I cannot miss out on studies and school due to my fun, and this all requires commitment.
