Bal mela

I got an opportunity to participate  in  bal mela and made tattoos on the hands of underprivileged children. It was a truly satisfying experience as children liked tattoos that me and my teammates made on their hands like flowers, hearts, butterflies, etc. Most importantly I could observe a smile on children’s faces. It was fun to interact with the children. They had a great sense of humor and they were always smiling even though they have abundant problems. This is something I learned from them.

LO 1( Identify own strengths and areas of growth)

I choose art & craft as it is my strength and I am more inclined toward it. Another strength was my communication skills which helped me to interact with children and made them feel comfortable. As the children were from local schools they were comfortable communicating in Gujarati, I was not fluent in the language which increased the communication gaps. But I tried talking in Gujarati, and as the session moved further I improved in it and finally conquered my weakness.

LO 5( Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively)

I made use of social skills while working collaboratively with my teammates as we made wise decisions to make sure that our work was equally distributed so that we could make tattoos properly on every child’s hand. This experience helped me to understand my peers better and also we respected each other’s perspectives which made things easier. Hence, working collaboratively led to a successful event.

Overall, this experience was wholesome as I was able to see underprivileged children smile and also this experience improved my confidence .
