FRENCH IMMERSION

The French Immersion event took place on the 13th of January. The event was organized by DP students of grade 11 and we had teachers and our fellow students who visited the event and got to know about the French language and culture, also we initially thought to keep the event just related to France and french but then a suggestion was made to make event Related to Francophonic countries due to which students and the visitors got exposure to know about multiple francophone countries like their language, culture, food, etc.

This event was important as I was part of the Core Committee (CC), wherein we had to manage the entire event and it was a pleasant and amazing experience throughout the event.

LO-2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

Organizing events require many different skills like leadership, communication, critical thinking, etc. In order to make this event successful we took the challenge and tried to make decor beautiful and different for other events. About the activity and the information related to francophone countries, we came up with different audience-engaging activities which students and teachers both enjoyed a lot, also through this event I got to see my creative side and unearth my new skill.

LO-3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Initiating a plan required knowledge, and there should be research done for the event which is going to be executed. For this event, the core committee had done background research and pitched their ideas to the subject teacher after the announcement of the event. This also consumes time and requires dedication to the hard work that is going behind organizing such an event. The stakes are high because as a member of the core committee, there are many responsibilities that come with leadership, so dedication is required.

LO-4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

The planning of the event was one month long and required perseverance and commitment toward the assigned task. For a few of the tasks, such as decor and other things, we also came early to school in order to meet the deadlines and complete the assigned tasks on time. As core committee members, we had many responsibilities such as managing all the games, and decor, taking regular updates from volunteers, and other tasks.
