LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I always believed that my physical capabilities were very limited. This trip gave me the opportunity to change that. I decided to test my capabilities by doing adventure activities during this trip. I did five activities on this trip. Trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, caving and boating. In trekking, i tested my endurance and during the first trekking trip, it was all right, my endurance was capable enough to handle that. However, during the second one which was longer, I lost my endurance and was walking loose, because of which I stumbled upon a rock and twisted my ankle, other than that it was fine. I believe I need to work more on my stamina. Then came rock climbing and rappelling. While performing that, I realized that I was comparatively able to do well on pulling my weight while hanging on to whatever I could grasp while performing the activities and did well because of my less body weight. Caving and boating was also easy, and i was able to perform them without getting tired.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
In my experience of the educational school trip to mount abu, i learned a lot of new valuable skills. Performing the activities, I improved my cardiovascular strength. In caving, rappelling, and rock climbing I significantly improved my grip strength and was able to pull my body weight. I developed mobility and learned to carry myself through narrow gaps while going through caves and extensively used my leg muscles while boating. While rock climbing, I was also afraid of tripping over the edge despite the gear, but after performing the activity, I was able to get over it. These activities and the camping brought me significantly closer to nature and helped me develop physically. Emotionally and spiritually I was also able to connect to the peace within nature and was able to clear my mind. I learned about how to calm myself and control my emotions.
(I can be seen performing the activity of rock climbing)
