Scuba diving was no doubt one of the most thrilling experiences I have ever done . This was something which had been waiting on my bucket list for ages and finally over my vacation in Australia . I did scuba diving at the great barrier reef during my diwali vacation .Â
This catered to the activity aspect of my CAS experience. I chose to do scuba diving in particular as I was fascinated by the ocean and the marine life that inhabits it. I also wanted to challenge myself physically and mentally, as Scuba diving is a physically demanding activity that requires a lot of strength, stamina, and flexibility
In order to begin with, a certain training is given which covers the basics of scuba diving, including safety procedures, equipment usage, and underwater communication.Â
During my scuba diving experiences, I encountered a variety of marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles, octopuses, and even sharks. It was an incredible feeling to be able to observe these creatures in their natural habitat, and I felt a sense of peace and respect for the ocean and its inhabitants.
Apart from the physical and mental challenges, scuba diving also taught me important life skills, such as patience, perseverance, and responsibility. It requires careful planning and attention to detail, as even small mistakes can have serious consequences. It also taught me the importance of respecting the environment and the need for conservation efforts to protect the ocean and its ecosystems.
I was able to cater to a few learning outcomes through this experience such as LO1 and LO2 . I demonstrated learning outcome one as I focused on my abilities and skills and I’m open to improvement and challenges. This being a new experience for me itself opened up various areas for growth which helped me learn new skills for scuba diving. LO2 was catered as I participated in an experience that demands an appropriate personal challenge and I was willing to be involved in unfamiliar situations where I developed other skills and increased expertise in established areas. Â
Overall, scuba diving was an incredibly fulfilling activity that allowed me to challenge myself, explore the underwater world, and learn important life skills. It was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and rewarding activity to undertake.
