Farewell planning

Every year, there is an student event (farewell) in school for students graduating which is an great opportunity to learn skills and gain some experience of organizing an event for junior students.

LO’s demonstrated:-

LO 1:- While we were planning the event, I was not able to merge in with the group, I lacked of communication skills which was my area of personal growth. This opportunity helped me to develop this skill and help hence the same. Through this experience, I was able to work on communication skill and participate with the group. Coming out of the comfort zone and working for decor which is already a weakness for me was another area of improvement which was also catered during this CAS experience.

LO 2:- As it was a group project, not all the opinions in the group were in the same direction. Therefore, we were having chaos in discussing the opinions and my poor communication skills were adding more problem to present my thoughts. There were delays in the timeline, we were left with many tasks and were short on time. Though these challenges were encountered, we planned and executed the event successfully and efficiently. This experience helped me to develop my time management and communication skill through out.

LO 3:- Farewell is a huge event to organize, we as students did have plans and agenda for meetings that were organized. Many deadlines were missed and many things went out off the track. As this experience involved the planning and preparation of the farewell for senior students, I was able to develop my organization skills and planned the event successfully.

LO 4:- Many of the meetings took place in subject slots, this made it difficult to manage both the studies and preparation for the farewell. As I was a volunteer, showing up on time was one of my responsibilities which required commitment and perseverance in this experience. This CAS experience helped my to learn that showing and expressing commitment is not an easy task.

LO 5:- As juniors we wanted to give a memorable and joyful farewell to the seniors and therefore teamwork and cooperation is an important key. Completing the event alone wasn’t possible, working in bits and pieces helped the team to work efficiently and much more faster. This helped me to develop my social collaboration skills.

LO 6:- Using plastic for the decoration would not have been a sustainable practice and it was a challenge to find out an easy substitute for plastic which would function both looking aesthetically appealing as well as was harmless to the environment. The decor team used papers to decorate the venue instead of using plastic which was a sustainable choice and a step towards reducing plastic usage.

In conclusion, my CAS experience has been a transformative journey that has helped me grow as an individual and as a member of the farewell team. I have learned that creativity, and service are not just individual pursuits, but interconnected aspects. As I move on to new adventures and opportunities, I will carry the lessons and memories of my CAS experience with me always.
