GLOBAL ODYSSEY

We have the chance to learn about business creation and administration during the yearly Global Odyssey 3.0 event. The event was held on February 23, 2023, and it was planned by the whole grade 12 business management and economics students and teachers. Also, there were many types/categories of stalls at this event, like fun, fashion, food, and picture booths. My buddy and I chose to compete in the fun category.

LO:1 I genuinely appreciate taking part in exhibitions and events because they make me curious. Using my creativity, I found the idea of a football game. This would draw more clients to our stall because there are too many students participating in this sport in grades 7 through 12. Regrettably, at first, I wasn’t able to attract as many consumers as I had hoped. I altered the cost as a result from 70 to 50, which finally helped us draw in more clients.

LO 2 I first had problems since there weren’t enough customers, but after the target audience—the people for whom I had selected the game—arrived, things became better. By presenting my ideas and the games I was selling, as well as convincing students to play the game on my stand, I improved my marketing skills, like negotiating prices and persuading them to come to my stall.

LO 3 Our team took charge of planning our CAS experience independently, with guidance from our teachers. We focused on organizing a football game event for everyone to enjoy. During our brainstorming sessions, we explored different game ideas, faced challenges, and adapted our plans to create unique and engaging football activities. On the event day, we successfully captured the audience’s attention, and people of all ages participated enthusiastically in our specially designed football games. It was a rewarding experience that taught us teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills, making it a memorable journey from start to finish.

LO 5 Handling a football stall required a lot of attention because of the large number of ongoing customers I needed a team. The only person with me at my stand was me and my friend Het. Someone must be in charge of both, the money and the customer. In the end, we were able to carefully control everything and provide them with the best help.

LO 7 Me and my friend’s involvement in running the Global Odyssey football game stall taught us to make fair and ethical decisions. We were careful about how we set up and managed the games. We made sure everything was honest and fair, including the prices and rules. This experience showed us that being ethical and treating everyone fairly is important, not just in sports but also in everything we do. It was a valuable lesson in making the right choices and acting with integrity. For instance, there was a moment when a player hit the ball so hard that it unexpectedly bounced back and accidentally hit my friend’s VR equipment, which was set up nearby. My friend wasn’t present at the time, so I took the initiative to inform him about the accident and apologized, even though nothing was damaged. This demonstrated our commitment to ethical behavior, honesty, and respectful communication, ensuring that everyone involved was aware of what happened and that any concerns were addressed promptly.

To conclude, I displayed the qualities of the learner profile that were knowledgeable and ethical during the event. The game that we helped people play was football and we had to think a lot about how many customers on average we would have and how we could attract more. The LP I used were skills of thinking and knowledge.
