CAS project: Farewell organizing committee (Creativity)

learning outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Hosting the farewell for my seniors, the batch of 2023 was an unforgettable experience, with me taking on the role of Decor head in the organizing committee. This opportunity allowed me to showcase my creativity and develop essential management skills. The journey began with brainstorming themes and color schemes, ultimately settling on a “Coldplay” theme. Countless hours were dedicated to research, shopping, and planning, from shimmering trees to space theme table centerpieces. Coordinating with vendors, being a part of the dance and attending practice sessions, and ensuring everything arrived on time was a demanding but rewarding challenge. In the days leading up to the event, early mornings at school were spent setting up the venue, testing lighting, and perfecting every decoration. Despite moments of panic, the support of the committee and our collective determination kept us going. Hosting this farewell was not just about decorating; it was a lesson in time management, teamwork, and perseverance.

learning outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

My journey into learning the functioning of collaborating began when I joined the Farewell Organizing Committee. This experience illuminated the power of collaboration and taught me that when individuals come together with a common purpose, they can achieve incredible results. It was an entirely new venture for me, and I soon realized that being a part of this team was akin to diving into uncharted waters. From the very start, it was evident that collaboration was our key strength. We huddled together to brainstorm ideas, plan timelines, and allocate responsibilities. My role as a decorator was just one piece of the puzzle, and I had to align my creative ideas with the overall theme and vision of the event. Learning to work in a team was a transformative experience. It taught me to communicate effectively, compromise when necessary, and appreciate the diverse skills and perspectives that each member brought to the table. We faced challenges, made mistakes, and had late-night planning sessions, but through it all, we grew stronger as a unit. It was a valuable lesson that extended far beyond the farewell event, reminding me that working in a team is often the key to unlocking our greatest potential.

learning outcome 1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

As I ventured into the world of event decoration, I quickly realized that I was on a journey of self-discovery. The initial trepidation I felt soon gave way to excitement and a sense of purpose. It was here, in the world of creativity and aesthetics, that I found my calling. The more I immersed myself in this new role, the more I learned about my innate creativity. My newfound passion wasn’t just about decorating a venue; it was about transforming spaces into beautiful, memorable settings. I discovered that I had an eye for detail, a knack for color coordination, and a talent for turning ideas into tangible, stunning decor. This experience not only boosted my self-confidence but also taught me the importance of taking risks and stepping out of my comfort zone. I realized that growth and self-discovery often happen when we challenge ourselves and embrace the unknown. This act od creativity was a significant step forward in my personal journey, and it opened doors to a world of creativity and self-realization I had never imagined.
