Global odyssey

Global odyssey is an economics and business management combined event where Grade 11 students organize this whole event. I in particular was accounts volunteer where I was supposed to take care of the finances of my stall and along with working collaboratively with other accounts members. As a result of my CAS experience, I got a better understanding of how any business works in the real world, and how accounts are catered in the firm. This experience catered to all components as we did an activity which was necessary in an creative method and as this was also contributing to charity I also did an service for the same.

LO1:- In this CAS experience, I was able to identify that accounting can be my strength. You need to know your weaknesses so you can know what things you can do the best and what things are not your specialty and what things you have to improve in. I would like to work on my strengths and make it more strong.

LO2:- I encountered a number of issues on my globe odyssey that called for the acquisition of fresh skills. At first, we intended for trade in the event to be conducted using coupons, a brand-new currency for Global Odyssey. Students will use cash-coupon counters to purchase coupons in exchange for cash. A day before the event, it was decided to abandon the coupon idea because of the anticipated big crowds, the short amount of time that students would have to visit the booths and enjoy the event, and the disruption that waiting in line for coupons would entail. Through this experience I learnt that we should be prepared for any situation that can arise and should face our fears as well.

LO4:- We showed our commitment and perseverance to the Global Odyssey event by working hard to make the event successful. We invested our time, expertise, and skills to the event, proving our commitment to its success. We overcome accounting challenges but an dedication led to an successful flow in the event.

LO5:- As I was a part of a large organizing committee, we had to work as a team, which required effective communication and cooperation so that the decisions are made keeping in consideration the different perspectives, and so that everyone would have clarity about their individual roles so that they could perform them in the expected manner.

LO7:- Global Odyssey has always placed a high priority on ethics, including giving 5% of sales to charities and encouraging customers to bring their own dabbas to reduce plastic waste. Numerous students approached us during the process and said they would give us commissions in exchange for us not taking 5% of their total payment. However, as a team, we decided to adhere to the ethical aspect and be honest about our roles and responsibilities.
