Global Odyssey 3.0 was a student-led event, conducted on 23 February 2023. As students of Business Management and Economics, we were tasked with organizing this flea market event, with the goal of using our book knowledge in real life and experiencing the ups and downs of a business. The event was divided into three parts: food, fashion, and fun. This year, the event was themed around BOHO, and I was appointed as the leader of the fun team.
Working on Global Odyssey 3.0 was a truly rewarding experience. It allowed me to demonstrate my engagement with issues of global significance, my skills and recognition of the benefits of working collaboratively, and my commitment to and perseverance in activities.
LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in activities.
Leading the fun team for Global Odyssey 3.0 was a challenging but rewarding experience. I had to commit a lot of time and energy to the project, and I had to persevere through some setbacks. However, I was determined to make the event a success, and I was able to do so with the support of my team members. One of the biggest challenges I faced was coming up with ideas for fun activities that were both engaging and sustainable. I am proud of the work that I did on Global Odyssey 3.0. It was an experience that allowed me to grow and develop as a student and as a person.
LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working on the Global Odyssey event required a high level of collaboration. I had to work closely with my team members to brainstorm ideas, develop plans, and execute our vision. We also had to collaborate with other teams, such as the marketing team and the operations team, to ensure that the event ran smoothly. Working collaboratively on this project taught me a number of valuable skills, including communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. I also learned the importance of delegating tasks and trusting my team members.
LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The Global Odyssey event was developed and catered to the SDGs, demonstrating our engagement with issues of global significance. We recognized the importance of sustainable development and took steps to reduce waste, promote responsible consumption and production, and showcase innovation and creativity.
LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experienceÂ
Initiating and planning the Global Odyssey 3.0 event was an intricate process that involved careful coordination and strategic thinking. As a team of Business Management and Economics students, we recognized the significance of applying our academic knowledge in real-life scenarios. My role as the leader of the fun team entailed devising innovative and engaging activities that resonated with the Bohemian ethos while ensuring their sustainability. This demanded creative thinking and thorough research to conceptualize activities that not only entertained but also adhered to ethical and environmental considerations.
LO7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choice and actionsÂ
Ethical considerations were at the forefront of our planning process for Global Odyssey 3.0. As stewards of sustainability and responsible business practices, we were cognizant of our ethical responsibilities in organizing the event. Transparency, fairness, and integrity underpinned our engagements, fostering trust and fostering a positive reputation within the community.Â
