The Robin Hood Army is a volunteer based, zero-funds organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and the community to serve less fortunate people. It has its presence accross India and even in other few nations like Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri lanka and more. Surat is one of the cities where there are more than 100 volunteers. I as an indivudal has grown up learning about the value of helpung others in need. With such an value inherited in me, services like this where we provide food, education and other essentials to the ones in need, gives me a sense of peace and happiness.

In present, with increasing food wastage and where millions go to bed hungry every night, the Robin Hood Army has taken up the noble task of eliminating this gap. Hunger is a global issue that affects people irrespective of their nationality, and RHA’s presence in multiple countries underscores the global significance of its mission. By redistributing surplus food to those in need, the organization not only addresses the problem of hunger but also contributes to reducing food wastage, a concern with far-reaching environmental and economic implications.

Life Skill Learning Outcome 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

One of the core values of the Robin Hood Army is the belief in the ethical responsibility to help those less fortunate. Many of us, like myself, have grown up with the understanding that helping others in need is not just a good deed but a moral obligation. RHA’s volunteers carry this belief forward, embodying the principle of “Serve Before Self.” This NGO strongly belivies that everybody deserves to have an access to the basic nessesities. By acting on this ethical conviction, RHA sets a powerful example for us all.

In all, the Robin Hood Army’s presence in Surat, India, and around the world is a assertion to the power of compassion, ethics, and collective action.
