Plantation Drive

On 25 Jun 2023, I volunteered for plantation drive happening in my local community. We started by waking up early and preparing the seeds for plantation. We also had to find good spots to plant the trees, to ensure that there are enough resources like water, space and sunlight for the tree to grow properly.

Next we went to the local nursery to pick up the trees, which could be grown on the road side. After picking up the trees, we had to find the location for planation. We decided a location and started clean up the location. For a plant to properly grow, it must have clean soil. Because people had thrown quite a lot of waste into the soil, we first had to clean up the soil, such that the plant would not face issues as it grows older.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance

This was a good experience, I dealt with climate change and thus focused on the SDG climate action. By planting trees I was able to save the environment by reducing the amount of CO2 in the air. However, by doing this I also inspired the younger generation to follow the footsteps and to take action of their own. This starts a chain reaction, thus making sure that the solutions to this problem reach to masses exponentially.

Conclusion

It was a good experience, I developed the IB learner profile caring, as I cared for the environment and the future of the mankind. I felt immense social responsibility to save the planet, for which I am grateful to have done this CAS experience.
