Since the first day of the ‘Senior Year’ we were excited to host and plan a fresher for our junior, to celebrate and welcome the junior to a thrilled junior year. The Fresher’s party was an opportunity for us to make a memorable and remarkable event for our juniors. The Freshers party included fun games, activities, dance and some delicious menu prepared for the fellow juniors. I was assigned to the decor team for the fresher’s party.
My dedication to the event’s success was demonstrated by my persistence and dedication throughout its planning and execution, demonstrating my ability to prevail in the face of difficulties. During the experience the following LOs were catered:
LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
My dedication and perseverance shone brightly throughout the Freshers’ event planning and execution. I persisted in my commitment to the event’s success in the face of the inevitable difficulties that cropped up, like scheduling conflicts and unexpected changes to the set up. This experience demonstrated my perseverance in the face of hardship and reinforced my belief in the value of staying committed and moving forward even when faced with challenges.
LO5- Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
A large-scale event required seamless collaboration between peers and teachers for planning and execution. We showed the value of teamwork by efficiently coordinating efforts and ensuring alignment with our common objective. According to each team member’s strengths, specific roles were assigned, resulting in a productive teamwork. This experience demonstrated my capacity to coordinate the talents of a wide range of people, underscoring the advantages of teamwork in order to make the event remarkable.
LO3- Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Our leadership and preparation led to the conception and thorough planning of the entire event, from conceptualizing the Freshers’ event to scheduling the games and dances. We were able to start a CAS experience from the beginning by taking the initiative to propose and develop this idea, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing the school community.
LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The Freshers’ event planning proved to be an obstacle that compelled me to learn new skills. I gained a variety of skills from planning events to problem-solving from this experience. We faced a number of difficulties, such as unforeseen changes and operational snags, but by using creative approaches to solving problems and flexibility, we were able to overcome them, broadening my skill set in the process.
The event allowed me to develop learner profile balance, collaboration and open mindedness, while working in a big team, understanding each other’s perspectives and maintaining a balance between the academic and the task assigned for the fresher’s party.
