Learning how to draw anime characters

I have been watching anime ever since I was in 8th grade, my friend suggested me to watch naruto and ever since then I’ve been watching anime. Every anime has a different art style, and different ways to draw them. Ever since I was a kid, I used to draw behind the pages of my notebook and drawing is one of my hobbies. However, I was not too bad and not too good, I was decent. I could draw some stuff here and there. I enjoyed drawing and wanted to learn how to draw, I learned the basics but shading was tough. Even though, I faced a way bigger challenge.

I have ADHD, because of which it’s very tough for me to focus and sit on one place for hours and I would get distracted easilu, which always prevented me from reaching my potential. I decided to learn how to sketch and more importantly, I decided to control my ADHD and urges as every individual should have self control and some sort of art skills.

Throughout my jouorney, I discovered one more challenge, I learned that I lack fine motor skills, I found out that I was too messy and lacked basics of art, so I had to startover again and learn from scratch, which took about a month some of my drawings from then

As seen, I lack basic skills required to sketch some characters and how to actually sketch, I realised I was just mimicking a video and cannot sketch if given an image of a reference. I learned skills for the next 3 months and practiced and practiced, and these were the new drawings –

As visible a significant improvement was visible and I can not sketch anime characters or any character by just looking at the images since I learned the basics and secrets of good sketching. At tfirst you got to start by drawing the shapes that make up the character, then adding details to make the character, then shade based on the reference of light and distinguishing between light and dark sides based on reference of light and choose accordingly.

Overall, it was a fun experience as I learned a new skill and managed to unlock my potential and will focus on the same in the upcoming future.

Learning outcomes and categories –
