CAS for cooking is a Activity and Creativity. I chose it cause I enjoy cooking and eating food a lot. I did this so that I could learn how to make various dishes and develop my cooking abilities. I will learn how to prepare meals in this CAS so that I can prepare them for myself when I’m away from my family and friends.
LO-1[identify own strengths and develop areas of growth]
I truly enjoy eating! But, I don’t love to cook until now but after the lockdown it made me realize that I had to learn to cook, and over time I was interested in doing so. As a result, I started to do so throughout the 3 lockdown phase when corona was about to end. I picked up a lot of new cooking techniques and learned different dishes, which was extremely helpful. Over time,I became aware of my primary strengths in chopping and cutting. I was able to cut any fruit or vegetable in a variety of ways, including slicing, straight cutting, dicing, finely chopping, and more. But I lacked these talents when it came to making perfect round chapatis, frying, flipping and i started watching videos and youtube so that i get more interested into it.
LO-2[ Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process]
The difficulties I faced were with frying and producing spherical chapatis. When it comes to cooking, the procedure takes a little while and must be done perfectly because adding just a little bit too much of any spice might change the dish’s flavour. During the cooking process, I discovered the importance of patience. I’ve improved my research and communication abilities. My mum taught me how to cook. We maintained up regular communication by just watching my mother cook, listening to what she say’s,asking questions if i missed any of the steps and even watching videos on youtube to understand more things regarding cooking.
LO-3[ Demonstrate how initiate and plan a CAS experience ]
There are always processes and stages that must be followed when cooking. I had to make sure I had all the supplies before preparing the dishes and follow the directions properly. There were certain recipes that included ingredients from different recipes or mixes. For example, if we are making any dessert which needs to cool down to chill so for that  we have to start our process a bit early so it can cool down and can give an amazing after taste of that dessert. Even trying to make sure that the recipe is made perfectly requires some basic prep.
LO-4[ Show commitment and perseverance in the CAS experience ]
During and after the lockdown, I intended to learn new recipes and meals. I made an effort to learn a variety of dishes under the supervision of my mother.Cooking is a skill which you can never stop learning and as it was a long term learning lesson i had to show commitment and perseverance in this CAS experience.
LO-6,7[Â Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance & Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions]
I had to take care to avoid wasting any food even food ingredients. In India, where poverty is a significant problem, it’s important to prevent wasting food because many people do not even have the opportunity to eat regular meals. For these reasons, I decided to donate the food  to those in need. Giving food to those in need helps to promote society’s health very well. Food preparation ethics are very important. There are rules to follow, such as wearing full pants for safety and taking precautions when handling hot food and working near the stove.
