We set out to organise a ‘Garba Fest’ for our hardworking teachers at our school. The goal was not just to develop a sense of community, but also to bring the rich and vivid traditions of Navratri, a Hindu festival, closer to our educators’ hearts. This CAS project focused on Learning Outcomes 1 (LO1) and 3 (LO3), with an emphasis on creativity and activity.
LO 1- We were entrusted as student organisers with identifying our strengths and opportunities for growth right from the start. Our event management, leadership, and communication abilities were essential strengths. This project provided us with the opportunity to further refine them and implement them in a real-world setting. The first stage was to come up with ideas and envision how we could make the Garba Fest exceptional for our school staff, which was difficult.
LO 3- We methodically organised every part of the Garba Fest, from the location to the instructors to the food and refreshments. This procedure needed not only a high level of organisation and logistical management, but also for us to take the initiative and guarantee the event ran successfully. We learned the value of meticulous planning and taking the lead in implementing activities by addressing LO3, a vital skill that extends far beyond our Garba Fest.
The Garba Fest CAS project was more than simply a cultural festival; it was a chance to put our creativity and organisational skills to the test while also tackling LO1 and LO3. Our teachers not only loved the event, but they also recognised the importance of cultural diversity. In terms of innovation, activity, and influence, it was a tremendous success. As we look back on our journey, we realise that CAS projects are more than simply a requirement; they provide a platform for us to create unique experiences and make a difference in our school community.
