I’m thrilled to share the incredible journey I recently experienced during our school’s CAS Cross Country Run. This unique adventure had me running not one, but three marathons, proving to be a transformative and personal challenge. Let’s dive into the highlights of this unforgettable CAS journey, focusing on the challenges, perseverance, global reflections, and ethical considerations that defined this remarkable experience.
LO2 – Challenges as Growth Opportunities:
Taking on three marathons brought a host of challenges, becoming growth opportunities that I never anticipated. Without formal training sessions, every marathon presented a unique test of endurance. The lack of a prescribed routine allowed me to adapt and develop new skills on the fly. Whether it was learning to pace myself or overcoming mental hurdles during the races, each challenge became a stepping stone to personal growth.
LO4 – Perseverance and Commitment in Action:
Commitment was the driving force behind every stride during this CAS experience. Without the structure of formal training sessions, the commitment to completing three marathons showcased not just physical endurance but an unwavering dedication to personal goals. It was a journey that demanded perseverance, reinforcing the idea that commitment is a lived experience that extends beyond organized routines.
LO6 – Engaging with Global Significance:
As I traversed the marathon routes, thoughts of global significance naturally surfaced. LO6 came alive as I reflected on obesity and weight issues as prevalent problems. Running, beyond being a personal challenge, became a symbol of combating global health concerns. Each stride became a testament to the importance of addressing obesity as a worldwide issue. It emphasized that personal endeavors, such as participating in marathons, contribute to a broader understanding of our role in tackling global health challenges.
LO7 – Ethical Considerations in Every Stride:
Running without a cause prompted reflection on the ethics of my choices and actions. LO7 became integral as I recognized the impact of my initiative on the environment and the community. Every stride became a conscious effort to minimize my footprint. Choices in race preparation, from materials used to personal conduct, were made with ethical considerations in mind. This journey highlighted that even individual pursuits can be approached with a sense of responsibility towards the well-being of the community and the environment.
