Showcasing myself in front of many eyes has always been my step back so participating in a competition was a huge leap that I took to create a bridge to overcome my challenges and weakness. I participated in the Dance category as dance has been my strength and an area where I like to explore and challenge myself with new opportunities. So my aim was to take risks and perform in front of an audience. The result wasn’t my worry, my worry was that I represent myself and who I am and not step back at the last moment.
I did perform on the stage and it felt like a relief that I walked through the bridge and overcame my challenge through my strength (dance). Also, it made me release that even participating is a great way of appreciating yourself rather than winning.
There was a common learning outcome throughout the event which is LO:1 Identify own strengths and developing areas for growth. Which was experienced throughout the process.
LO:5
Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
When I decided I wanted to do it in a pair instead of a solo I knew I had to adjust, and make changes but that was the part that made me release that working in a pair or group helps you improve. My partner gave great support by advising on the outlooks, and steps, and even by giving suggestions on what we can do and what not. She was like a viewer and adviser that made our performance even more perfect for the stage. Through her collaboration, the piece of dance looked completely like the perfect ending a storybook could have. We both didn’t only grow individually but even as a pair.
LO:2
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:
During the practice, The most difficult part was time management and mode of learning. I and my friend didn’t have any common free slot so we had to meet online on google meet. So teaching online was even a skill I learned as it is a completely different process than face to face. Through online teaching, I developed my communication skill as I had to make her imagine and understand the routine ( steps ) I was saying and have a healthy discussion over the routine and songs.
Adding on I took a sign of extra courage and helped my friend by being her model in a fashion show in FS got talent. I even faced the whole crowd alone with a spotlight on me. Even during the ramp walk the style I was given was out of my comfort zone. So I had to pull the outfit as one and represent my friend’s hard work so I developed skills in risk-taking and being confident that I can take any challenges which are thrown at me.
