I had a lot of curiosity in the field of Astronomy since the past 4-5 years. I always used to ponder about how did our universe come into existence, are we really alone? Is there a possibility of multiverse and many more. I got this interest thanks to the astronomy camps organised in my previous school (from class 6 to 10) After learning photography, I had decided to take up astrophotography as a serious hobby. I have done various courses of astrophotography on Skillshare and Coursera. 

LO-1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Because of my background knowledge in the field of astronomy, I was able to grasp the key takeaways from the online courses fairly easily. Because of this, I could complete the month-long courses in a matter of weeks. Astrophotography also requires proficient skill in photo-editing. My past knowledge in the field of editing in Photoshop also helped me to take better images.

LO-2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Astrophotography is a hobby that requires a lot of patience and calmness. Aligning the camera with the celestial body targeted is very time consuming, as they appear only as dot-like figures. Also, focusing the object is the hardest, as one slight movement can make the object blur as a water droplet! Even after these all things are done, one has to take 400-500 photos to stack them later for improving quality.

I first targeted the Orion Nebula and attempted multiple times to capture it but unfortunately, I failed to do so due to heavy light pollution; thanks to the recent industrial developments nearby. Although I felt dejected, I tried to remain patient and waited for the right time to come. After about 4 attempts, I was able to capture the Orion Nebula, which has become one of my greatest achievements.

Lo-4-Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

As mentioned earlier, I will remain committed to perform astrophotography whenever possible. I have a calendar of various astronomical events that I can capture using my skill. I have also planned of making a blog showcasing all the photos of celestial bodies that I have taken.

Final Takeaway:

In conclusion, I find astrophotography as a great hobby which will enhance my knowledge of the universe and give me more experience in the field of photography.
