The learning outcomes achieved during the experience :
LO 1 : Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth
One of my advantages was that I had VA as a subject in my MYP, so I was familiar with the basics and a few techniques needed for the experience. However, I wasn’t great at sketching, so I practised and focus on my sketching skill, which got better at the end of the experience. I used to sketch during my leisure time which allowed me to improve my sketching skills.
LO 2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Since I haven’t sketched in a while, it took time for me to develop the skills. A few of the sketches were a disaster at the beginning which would make me frustrated. However, I didn’t let anything come my way to improve my skills. Patience is an extremely important quality that is required in both visual art and the real world. While developing new skills have helped me stay calm and handle situations in a more efficient manner. Further, helped me think outside the box and come up with unique and creative ideas for sketching.
LO 4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Any form of visual art requires a lot of patience and time. There have been times when I’ve felt demoralised by not being able to do it properly and was on the verge of giving up because I wasn’t sure I could do it anymore. Nevertheless, I kept on practising, and eventually, my sketches were improved. Being perseverant and committed throughout this was challenging, however, it was important otherwise, I could have easily given up and couldn’t have finished this experience.
LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
I didn’t know where to start so I tried to copy some artwork from online websites and videos, which brought up the question of copyright. However, I did make the sketches myself. Additionally, I did a few modifications to my artwork from the original artwork.
