Mount Abu Educational Trip

It’s always fun to go on trips with your friends at the same time gaining knowledge about the setting of the place, and learning new skills. The Mount Abu Educational Trip helped me build on my trekking skills as well as spending time with my friends and teachers. I got to take away tons of new memories and learn more about surviving in the open. This camp gave me an opportunity to get a better insight on nature and indigenous culture.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Surviving in the cold climate was definitely the hardest challenge for me. Being someone who never really experienced living in a biting climate it was difficult for me to carry out daily life activities. Additionally, the activities performed during the trip such as rappelling, rock climbing, and trekking proved quite dangerous to me. Though we had harnesses on during rappelling and rock climbing, it wasn’t the same for trekking. Experiencing how to maintain balance, being focused, and making sure to have full control over my steps while being in high altitude minimized my fear.

Moreover, I have learnt to become adaptive in adverse situations besides enjoying the adventure. As well as it enabled me to be accommodative and helped me overcome these obstacles to reach my goal.

LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Refraining and being out of touch from my family for several days caused homesickness. To achieve my goal, dedication, confidence and will power gave me the inner strength to conquer these tasks. I believe that it is important to undertake new challenges because they help you identify your weaknesses and turn them into your strengths. Exploring nature and coming out of your shell is always a good way to free your mind from the remote world.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

This trip consisted of many teamworks which prepared me to facilitate in a respectful manner. When working with a group, you meet people with different opinions and what is important is you know how to handle situations where there’s a disagreement. Team activities assisted me to build on my versatility because I grasped on the important components to a successful team such as, giving everyone a chance to speak, respecting everyone’s opinions and most importantly having fun.
