Trekking Trip to Mount Abu

Mount Abu is a place which is a hill station located in the Aravalli Range in Sirohi district of the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is also known as “The Hill of Wisdom” and to explore the same, an Educational trip was organised from our school to Mount Abu. The duration of the trip was 4 days excluding 3 days of travelling. It was between 13th to 18th december. I have visited Mount abu several times by road trips, but this time it was different. The reason being that when I had visited this place earlier, We always stayed in a hotel room,However this time, I stayed in a tent with my friends which was a completely different experience. The camp in which I stayed was located on a mountain allowing us to explore the beauty of mountain life. It had several different physical activities such as Zipline, Rock climbing, Trekking, Caving, etc. Doing all these activities and adventures allowed me to test my potential and test my life survival skills in life-threatening situations.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I had done trekking in my life earlier too but this experience was completely different as the severity of the trek was tough. We did different treks which had different distance and different level of difficulty. During the whole trek, I came to find out my weaknesses and strengths. beginning from my strengths, the first one I discovered was my Awareness of the situation, There were some places where we were supposed to be aware of our surroundings because there were thorns and stones which could cause serious damage to our health, in which I managed to stay safe and be aware of the situation by not letting myself get hurt. Another strength which I found was that I can observe and learn things quickly and create my own pathways. For example there were also places where a specific type of technique was required to move ahead in the trek, In which just by observing the scene, I was able to create my own way of moving ahead and creating more easy path. Talking about my weaknesses,The first weakness I found was that I was not prepared with all the necessary requirements such as getting the correct pair of shoes, wearing appropriate safety measures and only carrying necessary items required for the trek. which I will take care of in my further treks and activities similar to it.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Since I found this trek to be a bit difficult than me previous treks, I had to face some challenge which could have turned out to be fatal but it didn’t, however it helped me develop new some new skills too. The challenge I faced was not bringing a pair of trekking shoes with me. The outcome of that was I almost got slipped during the Golden Horn Trek which could have got my head hit on the stone but I managed to create balance. The skill I developed during this CAS experience is walking on uneven surfaces and managing to reach the destination by creating my own paths.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

I showed presence and commitment in this CAS experience by firstly going to the Mount Abu trip. Then doing all of the trekking and other activities and adventures, and lastly accepting all the challenges which I faced during the adventures.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

During the trip, we performed several activities in which we were supposed to create a team and play games. We demonstrated skills such as communication skills because in order to win, a team must communicate with their members properly.  The benefit of doing the same was that we were able to win the game.
