Literacy Day – Service

The celebration of World Literacy Day aims to focus global attention on the issue of illiteracy and the need for quality education for all. The day also serves as an occasion to recognize the progress made in literacy rates worldwide and to identify the challenges that still need to be addressed. And to spread this knowledge I volunteered to give a voice to our school Didi’s and let them give their knowledge to others.

LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

This was a huge event which needed collaboration. Distributing the task between people was helpful in this case than working alone as it makes the work easier and divides the responsibility in groups. Us as volunteers helped the students to find the venue and settle this down. Also helped in making this event a success and spreading knowledge about literacy and its importance in school with the help of Early years didi.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

The issue here was illiteracy. Literacy is important as it helps the country to grow and it also helps a person to learn things and get a good job in future. Many people in this world don’t have proper access to education because of lack of money or other reasons. This problem might arise because of lack of education. Spreading the knowledge to the students is important to reduce the issue.

In this event Didis talked about how important they think education is. The learner profile over here was again communicator as we communicated a lot where Didi asked questions and the students also asked questions. The other learner profile could be open minded and we need to accept everyone’s opinion on it. Overall this event targets the lack of education.
