Football Nationals

Football is more than a sport to me. I have been playing football for 8 years now and now it’s something without which I can’t live. It’s been a daily routine for me. I have been playing a lot of football and this year I got an opportunity to play at national level representing my state which was a great achievement for me as I learned a lot from there.

Learning outcomes achieved from this CAS experience:

Learning outcome 1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:

Playing at national level is not at all easy and requires techniques and skills to reach till there so definitely there would be strengths and weaknesses you already know but as its is a very higher level in football where you would compete with best players of different states and potential players to play for the country then while comparing to them you would get to know areas of growth and your strengths. So i was good at passing shooting and was fast but I still need to develop my endurance and physique to compete at higher levels in football.

Learning outcome 4- Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:

As I already mentioned above, playing at national level is really difficult, this means that commitment and perseverance is a must to do my best in the tournament. Before the tournament my team and I used to practice everyday so that we develop skills and even build good coordination between the team.

There were times when I used to feel less motivated due to my performance in the starting days of the practice sessions, however as I had already committed to the team and myself, I kept practicing which in the end helped me get better and be prepared for the tournament.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:

Football being a team sport, the most important skill that needs to be incorporated by all the team members is obviously social skills. It is important that we not only practice and develop skills individually but also have team practice to develop and have more coordination between the team. Moreover as a team it is important to understand every teammate as it helps in having a good coordination in the match as well.

Luckily, I as a team player was known to everyone’s strengths and weaknesses which helped me to coordinate more easily. Hence social skills are a must not only in academics but also in sports also.

Despite not winning the tournament, I did not feel upset or discouraged. This is because I gained a lot of new skills from the opposing players and I also learned from the mistakes made by both my teammates and myself. I am thankful for the opportunity to have played in a national tournament for a sport that I am passionate about.
