Volunteer in culture capsule

In one of my CAS experience, I took part as a volunteer in culture capsule. In culture capsule we had to teach and do activities with underprivileged kids which were related to Indian culture. I had to teach underprivileged kids mosaic art.

The SDG which were followed are 4 and 10.  SDG 4 is about quality education and it was demonstrated as I taught underprivileged kids about new art form. SDG 10 is about reducing inequality and it was demonstrated as I reduced inequality by teaching something new.

In terms of CAS component, service and creativity were followed. Service was followed as I taught underprivileged kids something new without and monetary benefits. Creativity was followed as I had to teach underprivileged kids a new art form which is mosaic art.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

I had to work in a pair to teach underprivileged kids about mosaic art. Which was really beneficial as the number of kids per person reduced which helped us to teach kids more efficiently.  If I had to work individually than the efficiency of teaching kids would have reduced as the duty of teaching so many kids would have been on 1 person.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.

The lack of education that underprivileged kids face is a global issue and by teaching them something new I tried to give them education.

Learner profile communicators was demonstrated as I had to communicate with kids to know if they are understanding how to make the artwork and solve their doubts if they have any. Caring was demonstrated as I showed empathy and respect towards the underprivileged kids and tried to bring a positive change in their life by teaching them a new art form which they can use for the rest of their lives.

Volunteering in culture capsule was a nice experience for me as I could teach underprivileged kids could something new which is related to Indian culture.
