The Global Odyssey 3.0 is an annual event that provides students with an opportunity to learn about business formation and management. Organized and participated in by economics and business management students and teachers, the event took place on February 23, 2023. It featured various categories such as fun, fashion, food, and photobooth, and my friends and I opted to participate in the food category.
LO 1 -Â Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Initially, my team had low expectations for our food stall, “Desi Tadka,” assuming that it would not be as popular as dessert or more elaborate food options. We anticipated having few customers and planned to manage the business with only three of us. However, we were surprised to find that we had attracted large crowds and struggled to keep up with demand due to limited supplies. To address this challenge, we focused on efficiency and accuracy, recognizing that offering bad pizza would result in losses and negative publicity. We developed new business strategies and successfully executed them to ensure a smooth operation.
Lo 3 -Â Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Developing a successful business requires significant planning and effort. In the case of our food stall, we spent several weeks conducting research, creating a plan, and finalizing our products to ensure smooth operations. This involved determining the ideal location for our stall, determining the quantity of food to prepare, and devising strategies to attract more customers while maintaining reasonable prices to ensure profitability. Achieving these goals required not only careful planning but also patience, effective and most important teamwork.
Lo 5 -Â Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
rs. We understood that equal cooperation and mutual understanding from all participants were essential for the event to be successful. Therefore, we prioritized teamwork and collaboration, recognizing that it was critical for achieving our goals.
Lo 7 -Â Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
In addition to planning and execution, business ethics are also critical to the successful management of any enterprise. With this in mind, we were committed to pricing our food items fairly and avoiding any bias towards acquaintances or friends. Furthermore, after the completion of the event , the school donated 5% of the revenue generated by each stall to an NGO, demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility. Overall, the success of the event depended on the equal participation, cooperation, and mutual understanding of everyone involved.
