Flag Collection and Distribution Drive

After the “Har Ghar Tiranga” mission campaign, Indian Oil kept this drive called the “Flag Collection Drive,” in which you could donate the Indian flag that was no longer in use and visit the Indian Oil gas station that was closest to you. We simply went to our neighbors during this drive and collected any damaged or filthy flags that had not been used for other purposes. We then went to the Indian Oil office in our city and gave them the flags that we had collected from house to house. According to Indian Oil, the Tricolor flags that are in excellent shape will be kept and distributed to customers who visit their gas stations and fill up with petrol the following year. Those flags that are torn will be respectfully disposed of.

 LO1 : { Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth }

I all felt extreme disgrace for the people who were doing that when I learned that the flags had been thrown in the trash bins and worn on the road. I had to check to see if the flags were in good condition, which they were. One of my strengths, I noticed, was my ability to convince people that trashing the flags or treating them harshly was not a sign of respect. We feel more confident in our abilities when we are aware of our strengths. This can encourage us to take on new challenges and work harder to achieve our goals.

LO2 : { Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process }

Before removing the flags from the buildings or houses, it is important to get the owners’ permission. Collecting flags without authorization could be construed as trespassing or theft and to overcome this challenge, I requested their permission and explained my requirement to the landowners. It’s common for people to need to use their imagination and come up with new solutions when faced with new challenges. This can strengthen the ability to think critically and solve problems.

LO6 : { Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance }

With the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, we excitedly observed our 76th Independence Day. However, the issue is how to properly dispose of these flags after the celebrations was one of the biggest issues. You develop a better understanding of the struggles and difficulties people around the world face when you learn about global issues. Your skills to interact with and care about other people will help you connect and understand with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
