Global Odyssey Decor – Creativity

Our team embarked on a global odyssey as we took responsibility for the decoration of a major event. The task was not an easy one, but we knew that it would showcase our organizational and managerial skills. We spent weeks working collaboratively, planning the event thoroughly, and coming up with unique themes that would make it stand out. Our efforts paid off as the event was a resounding success. We were proud to have put all that we learned in our business management and economics classes to use. We were responsible for managing the budget, organizing the logistics, and ensuring that everything went smoothly on the day of the event. The event was not just a celebration of our hard work, but it also catered to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 8, 9, and 12. Our team worked diligently, dedicating countless hours to ensure that the event was a success. We learned the importance of teamwork, communication, and time management. We were proud to have put our skills and knowledge to use, knowing that we made a positive impact on the environment and the community.

LO 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience:

As a team, we initiated the Global Odyssey event by identifying an opportunity to showcase our ATL skills, those of organization, social, critical thinking, and communication. We recognized that planning a large-scale event would challenge us and provide us with an opportunity to develop new skills. We identified our roles and responsibilities, established a timeline, and set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals. We also ensured that the event aligned with the CAS learning outcomes and catered to the SDGs.

LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in activities: 

We demonstrated our commitment to the Global Odyssey event by working tirelessly for weeks to plan and execute it successfully. We dedicated our time, skills, and resources to the event, showcasing our perseverance and determination to make it a success. We remained focused on our goals and overcame any obstacles that came our way, such as budget constraints and logistical challenges.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: 

Collaboration was key to the success of the Global Odyssey event. We recognized each other’s strengths and weaknesses and worked together to leverage our skills and knowledge. We communicated effectively, listened actively, and respected each other’s opinions and ideas. We recognized the benefits of working collaboratively, such as increased productivity, creativity, and learning opportunities. During this tenure, we were able to demonstrate various IB learner profiles, such as being open-minded while listening to others, effective communication during ideation, thinking critically to implicate gathered knowledge.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance: 

The Global Odyssey event was developed and catered to the SDGs, demonstrating our engagement with issues of global significance. We recognized the importance of sustainable development and took steps to reduce waste, promote responsible consumption and production, and showcase innovation and creativity. We also ensured that the event was inclusive and diverse, promoting decent work and economic growth, and building resilient infrastructure. Catering to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 8, 9, and 12.
