GDGISMUN Delegation

This was my 2nd mun and I chose the international press as my committee, the portfolio was photography and I had to roam around all the committees and click photos for the final newsletter. I got the opportunity to hear all the debates going on in multiple different committees like UNOOSA, UNHRC, etc. Since this wasn’t conducted in my school I had the opportunity to meet various people as it was a completely new territory for me.

We had to work collaboratively in the IP committee to get the photos in all other committees since my portfolio was photography, we clicked photos and got the news in every committee, switching from time to time and making the committee a success. While we were conducting the press conference everyone had to collaborate to formulate and ask the questions in a certain way to put pressure on the opposing delegate so working together was a crucial part of my committee along with taking videos and photos of the delegates on the off chance they say something controversial or wrong during the committee.

I was going in all the committees to get my material and during that, I was able to gain knowledge and some idea of a resolution to current ongoing global issues like cyber safety or war in space. This MUN helped me know a lot more about what is going on in the world we live in and what steps we can take to make the world a better place to live in.

Since all the major decisions that can change the way the world works would lie on the people present in the committees to make decisions whether right or wrong is unethical in my opinion, this was just a model but in real life, this is how decisions are made which doesn’t seem ethical although it is important.

This CAS experience enabled me to overcome my fear of meeting new people and helped me work on my skill of photography, I won the best delegate award of the international press committee and it felt amazing. The whole experience was worth it and I gained a ton of knowledge along with making new friends in a different school. Also, I had to work in a team of 3 on each committee so it was fun to collaborate with everyone to create my work. I gained a lot of confidence to meet and talk to new people which i was afraid to do so before.
