The third Global Odyssey took place on February 23, 2023. Economic and Business Management Teachers and Students hosted this event. There were numerous stalls, including ones for food, fashion, activities, and games. I participated in activities related to food during Global Odyssey 3.0.
LO’s:
LO1:Â Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.
My team had low hopes for our food stand, “SnackOPedia,” expecting that it would not be as popular as sweets or more fancy food options. We expected few clients and intended to run the firm with three of us. We were surprised, however, to discover that we had drawn large audiences and were struggling to keep up with demand due to finite supply. To overcome this difficulty, we focused on efficiency and precision, knowing that serving substandard drinks would result in losses and unwanted publicity. To ensure seamless functioning, we designed new business strategies and effectively implemented them.
LO3:Â Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Building an effective business mainly involves planning and work. To ensure the successful running of our food stall, we spent many weeks researching research, developing a plan, and completing our items. This included selecting the best position for our stand, calculating the amount of food to prepare, and planning ways to attract more consumers while keeping pricing fair to ensure profitability. These objectives needed not just careful preparation, but also patience, effectiveness, and, most importantly, cooperation.
LO5:Â Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
We recognized that the event’s success required equal collaboration and common understanding from all participants. As a result, we stressed cooperation and collaboration, knowing that it was important to attaining our objectives.
LO7:Â Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Business skills, in addition to strategy and execution, are essential for the successful management of any firm. With this in mind, we were determined to price our food fairly and prevent any partiality towards friends or colleagues. Additionally, following the event, the school gave 5% of the cash collected by each stand to a non-profit organization, displaying our dedication to social responsibility. Ultimately, the event’s success was dependent on everyone’s equal involvement, collaboration, and mutual understanding.
