In this CAS experience, I choose Basketball as my sport in school PS offerings which helped my improve my overall game as well as helped with my fitness. I choose this activity as this was of my interest and I wanted to get better at the game.
LO’s engaged –
- LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth – As self reflection is a big part of learning anything, I had to analyze my own game and ask for improvements from my coach, I identified my strength’s which helped me score more frequently and self reflection helped me develop areas for further improvement which improved my game even further.
- LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills – while learning and refining my game, I took on quite a few challenges like facing off against bigger players than myself, pushing past my limits to increase my endurance and developing my left hand so that I can move more easily in both directions. All these challenges were quite hard at first but as I practiced more and more I got better at these things which helped me develop new skills.
- Â LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience. – I kept playing even when I was hurt, In strong sun which hit hard but I showed perseverance and commitment to the game and kept playing in tough conditions which show my determination towards my CAS experience.
- Â LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively. – Basketball is a team sport and working effectively in a team is the key to winning games. I understood this and communicated more with my teammates which increased our playmaking and passing ability as well as our team defence which lead us to winning more games and working collectively proved to be beneficial to us.
