French is a language that is foreign to us but cultural diversity is a really important aspect of our lives and we must experience at least one foreign culture in our lives, especially as a student who is looking to study abroad. By immersing themselves in another culture, one can understand and get the experience of what it will be like in that country – like a simulation. This is where the students of French organised a French immersion along with the guidance of Amish sir in our school to help others experience a few aspects of the French language.
LO1: I was one of the organisers in the French immersion. I knew of my strengths and weaknesses in French. Speaking French is one of my main strengths as I have been learning French for almost 2 years which helped me be the presenter of the event and even feature on the school’s Instagram reel for this event by giving the voice over.
LO2: While I am quite good at presenting, speaking a completely new language was a challenge that I undertook as at first even I was slightly nervous but overcoming this nervousness and presenting helped me hone my skills to the next level.
LO3: As I was part of the organising committee, I had also contributed in the planning of this event. Along with me writing down my speech for the video with some help of Amish sir, on my stall me and my partner were in charge of asking French riddles to the attendees. Finding the riddles and printing them on flashcards was part of the planning, along with the decoration for the stall.
LO4: This planning took almost a month, with there being weekly deadlines on certain tasks. Managing this along other work took dedication and determination as this event needed to be conducted successfully.
LO5: This obviously wasn’t an individual task, but a team effort and working collaboratively, sharing ideas, required materials, which francophone countries to represent, and other things turned out to be really beneficial and fruitful and the event was a great success.
