French Immersion Event

On January 13th, our school had a French Immersion celebration. This gathering includes DP teachers and students. Students and teachers were introduced to the culture of the language and the nations that speak it through fun games such as crossword puzzles, bingo, memes, and riddles during the French immersion event. Its goal was to raise awareness about French culture over the world. I was one of the event organizers, and I used my communication talent to help initiate the entire event.

LO’s

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

I took part in the crossword puzzle category at this event. I had never arranged an event before, so it was initially difficult for me to understand how to get started and handle things. Yet because I work better together, I was able to overcome this difficulty by working with my friends.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Selecting the right facts about each nation and ensuring that each activity showed the right knowledge was a challenging task requiring me to be attentive and seek the correct information. The event also had to physically represent its topic, which required us to collect the required information for the event.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

I made the effort to become a member of the core organizing team. Conversations with these individuals, as well as our supervisor, encouraged me in understanding how to better communicate and work with others.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

Working with people requires good communication.  Collaboration allows you to access a wide range of ideas and skills, which might help you make more informed decisions. It also allows you to complete work faster and more efficiently by distributing responsibilities and using the skills of each team member.

Reflective: The learner is respectful of others and their cultural background, and is willing to engage with French-speaking communities with a positive attitude.

Principled: The learner is able to use their imagination and creativity to enhance their learning experience
