CAS Experience 2 – Robin Hood Army

Robin Hood Army is a volunteer-based NPO that works to get surplus food from restaurants to the less fortunate sections of society and I have volunteered in several such drives. This experience was a service for me wherein I volunteered in donating food items and clothes and even taught underprivileged students through academic drives. In total, I did 10 Drives which prompted me to become a ninja robin. The total hours spent for the experience was around 13 Hours, 7 Hours for food and donation drives, and 2 Hours each for academic drives.

Experience Started: 01/01/2023    [ 18 Days ]

Experience Ended: 18/01/2023

As part of this experience, I planned to meet multiple Learning Outcomes and contribute to multiple Sustainable Development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goal that this experience caters to –

SDG 1: No Poverty

SDG 4: Quality Education

SDG 10 Reduce Inequalities

SDG 2: Zero Hunger

SDG 3: Good Health and wellbeing

SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Learning Outcomes :

LO1 [Strength & Growth] :

As robin hood is a NPO responsibilities on the volunteers were distributed this working and identifying strengths was important. During all these drives I met a lot of people talked with them and even grew with their ideas and thoughts, seeing people struggle and helping them grow It gave me strength and helped me grow as an individual.

LO3 [Initiative & Planning] :

During these experiences there were times where I had organized a drive, Where I had the responsibility to collect the access food call from one location and distribute it to the people in need.

LO5 [Perseverance & commitment] :

Each drive and accomplishment was a shared responsibility and dealing with problems that arise in the source of activities portrayed commitment and perseverance through the drives.

LO6 [Global engagement] :

There are 3 major global problems that I worked on through Robin Hood Army, Quality Education / Clean Water and Sanitation / Zero Hunger.Surely these problems are the base and should be taught by the government all around the world.

A problem that I faced during this experience was being open-minded and accepting actions in my surroundings and I overcame it by using a communication learner profile and respecting others’ values and decisions.

Learner Profile :

Knowledgeable & Thinker: During Academics Drives on Different Locations there were different things that were required to be taught, Sometimes We taught basic ethics to children and sometimes hygiene menstruation habits to underprivileged teen girls, This required knowledge in different things.

Communicators: Sharing my Ideas, ethics, and knowledge in a collaborative environment was important during drives.

Principle & Open Minded: There were different drives in different locations, Sometimes in a Convalescent Hospital / Slums / Parks, etc. Thus being open-minded was a trait that was something that I developed and even learned during this experience by respecting different cultures, histories, traditions, and values for others.

Caring: During this experience, I showed empathy, compassion, and respect for my surroundings, and was Committed to service learning. Moreover, I believe that I made a positive difference in the lives of others and the world through this experience.

As a result, I grew a lot from this experience and developed a lot of traits that overall developed me as a person, and doing something good for society gave me a sense of joy and accomplishment.
