Treadmill

I made the decision to push myself physically by running on the treadmill for a month as part of my CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) experience. The goal was to increase my physical stamina, endurance, and general health. I had defined particular learning objectives (LOs) for this task, including the following:

LO1: Increase cardiovascular endurance

LO2: Increase stamina and endurance

LO3: Establish self-control and dedication to physical fitness

I began the challenge by coming up with a detailed fitness schedule for the full month in order to meet these learning objectives. In order to push myself, I tried to work out for at least 45 minutes every day at different speeds and inclination levels. To increase my cardiovascular fitness, I added some interval training.

I initially found it challenging to keep up the pace and find inspiration to work out frequently. Yet, as the challenge went on, I became more physically fit and had more endurance. I realised that I could run for longer stretches of time without becoming tired and that I enjoyed the training regimen.

I kept a log of my daily workout regimen, including the length of time, speed, and incline, in order to monitor my improvement. I kept an eye on my heart rate to make sure I was working hard to increase my cardiovascular fitness.

I had various difficulties during the challenge, including muscular discomfort and weariness, which made it challenging to stick to the regimen. Nonetheless, I kept myself motivated by reminding myself of the advantages of exercise and the learning results.

I was happy to notice a sizable increase in my physical fitness and endurance after the challenge. I also improved my devotion to physical fitness as well as my self-discipline, both of which I feel will be beneficial to me in other aspects of my life.

LO6: I wasn’t only pursuing personal health while I ran on my regular treadmill excursion. Every action was in line with global concerns such as mitigating climate change through decreased emissions, reducing healthcare costs through illness prevention, and promoting mental well-being through self-care. This challenge, which at first appeared to be personal, turned into a microcosm of group effort, illustrating the ability of thoughtful decisions to have a positive knock-on effect and support a world that is healthier and more sustainable.
LO7:  chance to think about moral issues. Global disparities in access to exercise resources raise concerns about inclusion and equity. Even while I was fortunate enough to have access to home workout equipment, I understood that many others had less alternatives. This made me look into programs that support exercise that is accessible to all people and to fight for opportunities that allow everyone to prioritize their health and well-being, regardless of their financial situation. I also wondered how the treadmill itself, its manufacture, and possible disposal might affect the environment. This inspired me to learn about environmentally friendly goods and sustainable exercise methods so that my own journey wouldn’t have a detrimental effect on the environment I was trying to conserve with less emissions. Acknowledging these moral issues and proactively looking for answers enabled me to approach my challenge with a deeper understanding of its wider impact and the responsibility it entailed.

Overall, participating in the treadmill challenge for a month helped me meet my academic objectives and increase my physical fitness.
