I participated in FSMUN 9.0 as a delegate and I chose the IP (international press) committee as it gave me the opportunity to listen to all the debates and let me write a newsletter on my assigned committee, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge on the crisis of rehabilitation of Kashmiri pandits and how the lok sabha handles these conflicts. Each delegate bought a lot of research and facts to make a strong argument which allowed me to gain credible information and write my newsletter.
LO5-
We had to work collaboratively in the IP committee to get the news in all other committees, we shared our photos and our headlines so that each and every delegate could have an exciting newsletter with them and make the committee a success. While we were conducting the press conference everyone had to collaborate to formulate and ask the questions in a certain way to put pressure on the opposing delegate so working together was a crucial part of my committee.
LO6-
The topic of conversation in lok sabah (my assigned committee) was the rehabilitation of Kashmiri pandits and how they were being treated in Kashmir during the war between India and Pakistan to capture Kashmir. We were talking about their quality of life and human rights and trying to find out a solution to the existing problem. This is a global issue as it is important for everyone to have their rights respected and between the India Pakistan conflict to get Kashmir they were the ones to suffer.
LO7-
Since the future of all the Kashmiri pandits would lie on the people present in lok sabah to make decisions whether right or wrong is unethical in my opinion, this was just a model but in real life, this is how decisions are made which doesn’t seem ethical although it is important.
This CAS experience helped me work on a new skill which was writing literature material which was the newsletter, this helped me gain a ton of knowledge. The committee was very engaging and it was a fun experience overall as I got to meet a lot of new people, there were other events like socials which gave me the opportunity to connect with new people.
