Literacy day event

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

I worked collaboratively with other people to bring this event to success. My role in this was to ease the communication with the female support staff members. They were comfortable in the language Gujarati, and not everyone was familiar with the language in our class. My role was to bridge the communication gap and also make the support staff comfortable with communicating. We had to ask about their childhood experience from being deprived of education by asking them questions too, and maintaining the class decorum. I worked together with my other volunteer friend and made the event a success.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.

Lack of education is a persisting and prominent issue. Especially in third world countries, in rural areas, people are not provide access to education which has many negative effects on society and individuals. Without education, individuals may be limited in their career options and have fewer opportunities for growth. This can lead to lower income, reduced quality of life, and limited access to resources. It is also a significant contributing factor to poverty, as education provides individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to secure well-paying jobs and improve their economic status. It can exacerbate social inequality, as those who do not have access to education are excluded from social and economic opportunities.

SDGs that are associated with this are – No Poverty,Good Health and Well-being,Quality education,Gender Equality,Decent Work and Economic Growth,Reducing Inequality.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Because of the session, I reconsidered my actions and reflected on the opportunities I have and their importance. I learned that education provides you with knowledge and skills that you use to achieve your goals. This knowledge and skills can help you to think critically, solve problems, and make decisions. It also helps you to develop a sense of self-awareness, self-discipline, and a desire for lifelong learning. It can also help you to develop your creativity and expand your perspective on the world. Education can provide you with the pathway you need to improve your social and economic status. Education can help you to break the cycle of poverty and achieve a better standard of living, and after learning these reasons, I decided to take my education more seriously and utilize the opportunities provided to me.
