Farewell !

One of the most awaited events of the year , no doubt the farewell ! This catered the creativity aspect of my CAS experiences where We were a team of several students, and we were responsible for creating the ambiance and decor for the farewell event. We started by brainstorming ideas for the theme and colors that would best suit the occasion. After much deliberation, and changing the theme once already  we decided on a theme of “coldplay”.

Our next step was to plan the decor elements for the event. We had to put in a lot of thought and our creative thinking to decide upon the same. Hence, We decided to create a starry sky effect using fairy lights, balloons, and streamers. We also wanted to incorporate photo opportunities for our seniors and decided to create two photo booths in line with our theme.

On the day of the event, we arrived at the venue early to set up our decorations. We were thrilled with how everything looked, and it was a great feeling to see our hard work pay off. The fairy lights created a magical ambiance, and the photo booth was a huge hit as well. The highlight of the evening was seeing the joy and happiness on the faces of our seniors as they enjoyed the games and performances , posed for photos and admired the decorations. We received a lot of compliments for our work, and it was a great feeling to know that we had contributed to making the farewell event a success.

I also explored a few learning outcomes during this experience such as

LO1-  identify my own strengths and develop areas for growth , I have always admired art and craft. Also being a visual arts student in the past helped me use those skills and think upon greater ideas for our elements of decor. However, I also realized that I needed to develop my time management skills and learn how to prioritize tasks effectively. By being a part of the team, I was able to work on my weaknesses and develop my skills to become more efficient and effective.

LO2 – Demonstrating That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills in the Process, as Organizing the school farewell was a challenging experience, and it required us to work under tight deadlines and with limited resources. We had to come up with innovative solutions to ensure that we were able to deliver the desired results within the given timeframe. This experience allowed me to develop new skills, including event planning, sourcing materials, and executing our ideas.

LO3 – Demonstrating How to Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience, as a member of the decor team, I was involved in initiating and planning the entire event. We had to come up with a theme, decide on a color scheme, and plan the decor elements to create the desired ambiance. We had to work collaboratively with other teams to ensure that our ideas were in line with the overall event objectives .

LO4 – Showing Commitment to and Perseverance in CAS Experiences , Organizing the school farewell was a time-consuming and demanding experience, and it required us to work tirelessly for weeks to ensure that everything was in place. As a team, we had to show our commitment to the project and persevere even when we faced challenges.

Lastly LO5 – Demonstrating the Skills and Recognizing the Benefits of Working Collaboratively, Organizing the school farewell required us to work collaboratively with other teams, including the food and music teams. This experience allowed me to develop my collaborative skills and appreciate the benefits of working as a team. By working collaboratively, we were able to come up with innovative ideas and execute them effectively, resulting in a successful event.

In conclusion, being a part of the decor team for organizing the school farewell was an enriching and rewarding experience that allowed me to achieve various learning outcomes and I’m glad to have been a part of it.
