Monsoon musings

At Fountainhead School, Monsoon Musings is an event that unites individuals to share their unique literary creations. As one of the event coordinators and the head of the literary team, I meticulously reviewed all the submitted entries, served as one of the hosts, and facilitated the smooth execution of the program. Being a poet myself, I felt deeply honoured to provide fellow writers with a platform to showcase their literary talents and connect with like-minded individuals.

In this role, I identified my strengths in organization, leadership, and literary appreciation, while also
recognizing areas for growth in event management and teamwork. By meticulously reviewing submissions, serving as a host, and ensuring the smooth execution of the program, I honed my skills in organization, communication, and collaboration. Additionally, as a poet myself, I demonstrated a commitment to personal development and a passion for fostering creativity and artistic expression in others. Through this experience, I actively engaged in self-reflection and identified opportunities for further growth, thereby fulfilling the objectives of LO1 to identify one’s strengths and develop areas for improvement within the CAS framework.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Organizing an event from the ground up was a colossal undertaking that came with numerous responsibilities. Initially, I had to gain a comprehensive understanding of the event’s requirements and expectations. Following that, I had to prioritize the tasks based on their timelines and significance. Encouraging writers to participate in the event was another monumental challenge that I had to overcome. Additionally, creating a seamless program flow for the event and effectively communicating expectations to the volunteers were crucial aspects that demanded my attention. Going through this experience, I gained a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of event management and coordination. This knowledge will undoubtedly help me better prepare for future events.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Before the grand event, numerous tasks required our attention. These tasks included evaluating all the submitted works, ideating on decoration concepts, scripting the program, collecting resources, collaborating with both the staff and participants, and ultimately ensuring the seamless execution of the event. In my capacity as the event coordinator, I allocated responsibilities evenly amongst the volunteers to ensure that all tasks were completed efficiently within the given deadlines. the event’s triumph would have been unattainable without the invaluable contribution of everyone’s assistance and the invaluable guidance of our teachers.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

As one of the event coordinators and head of the literary team, I upheld ethical principles in the selection process of literary creations, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and respect for the diverse voices and perspectives of participants. Additionally, as a host, I maintained a welcoming and inclusive environment, fostering mutual respect and appreciation among participants. By providing a platform for individuals to share their literary talents, I contributed to the promotion of ethical values such as freedom of expression, cultural diversity, and creative empowerment. Furthermore, by recognizing the ethical responsibility inherent in my role as a facilitator of artistic expression, I demonstrated a commitment to ethical conduct and integrity within the CAS framework.
