Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of eleven players on a field with a 20-meter (22-yard) pitch in the centre and a wicket at either end, each with two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side earns runs by hitting the ball delivered at the wicket with the bat, while the bowling and fielding sides try to prevent this by dismissing each player (so they are “out”). Each phase of play is termed an inning, and one team bats, seeking to score as many runs as possible, while the other team bowls and fields, attempting to remove the batters and so reduce the batting team’s runs.

I’ve been a fan of cricket since I was a child and have played ever since. Nevertheless, as I grew older, I had less time to play cricket and so lost how to do so. As a result, I resolved to re-learn cricket. As a result, I decided to study cricket as a CAS activity.

Learning Outcomes:

LO1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Strengths and places for improvement in cricket, I analyzed my skills in technical, tactical, and physical areas, received input from coach Mr.Dhruvesh Patel, examined game tape, made objectives that focused on both strengths and shortcomings, and practiced consistently. Maintaining motivation and optimism throughout the process is critical to success. Enjoy my victories and keep focused on my aims to consistently enhance my performance on the field.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Taking on new challenges and learning new abilities are important components of progressing in cricket. For the last year, I’ve worked hard to improve my batting technique against spin bowling, which has long been a weakness of mine. I collaborated with my coach, Mr.Dhruvesh Patel, to create a training plan that emphasized increasing my footwork, stroke selection, and general confidence against spin bowling. I’ve been able to build new abilities and notice a huge improvement in my hitting against spin because of constant practice and devotion.

LO3 : Initiate and plan a CAS experience

I designed and arranged a CAS experience that needed effective time and homework management as a cricket player. I started by looking for possibilities to play cricket, such as joining a local club or team and then devising a plan that would allow me to match my cricket duties with my academic work. I organized my assignments and scholastic duties around certain times for cricket practices and matches. I was able to actively engage in my CAS experience while keeping a good balance in other areas of my life by prioritizing my responsibilities and managing my time wisely.

LO4 : Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Through my love of the sport, I showed tenacity and commitment throughout my CAS experience with cricket. As a member of my local cricket team, I have faithfully attended every practice and game, despite hurdles such as injuries or difficult opponents. Despite failures, I have stayed dedicated to honing my abilities and contributing to the success of the team. At a recent cricket competition, for instance, I encountered a challenging opponent who had previously defeated me. Yet, I did not give up and stayed dedicated to developing my technique and approach. I was able to attain a personal best score and assist our team win by working hard and persevering. This experience showed me the importance of dedication and tenacity in attaining success, and it has inspired me to strive even harder to achieve my objectives both on and off the cricket pitch.

LO5 : Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Working together in cricket has several advantages and necessitates a wide range of abilities. Being a member of a local cricket team and the lalbhai academy, I gained communication, cooperation, and leadership abilities via collaboration with my colleagues. We collaborate during practices and games to design and execute tactics, provide support to one another, and provide constructive criticism. We can make better judgements and get greater results if we share our abilities and game expertise. Working together in cricket has taught me the value of accountability, respect, and empathy, in addition to increasing our performance on the field. We learn to rely on one another, respect one another’s efforts, and enjoy our team’s triumphs via teamwork. These collaborative skills and advantages have not only helped me become a better cricketer, but also a more successful team member in other parts of my life.
