Learning outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

In my role as the welcoming person at Karma Kitchen, I greeted guests warmly, explaining the pay-it-forward system where meals were already paid for by others. This concept often surprised and touched our guests, highlighting the power of generosity. I ensured everyone felt comfortable, fostering a sense of community among individuals from diverse backgrounds. This role aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, promoting zero hunger, no poverty, reduced inequality, good health, and sustainable communities through shared meals with a warm welcome.

Learning outcome 1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

Through my Karma Kitchen experience, I’ve recognized my strength in confident communication and creating a comfortable atmosphere for others. To nurture this strength, I’ve chosen to join the welcoming team, aiming to further develop my communication skills and enhance people’s comfort. Recognizing this strength was a significant milestone for me as it highlighted my natural ability to connect with people.

Learning outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

In organizing information and allocating comfortable tables while maintaining the warmth of welcoming at Karma Kitchen, I leveraged the power of spreadsheets to streamline the process and ensure a seamless experience for adults dining at the establishment. Communication was key in this process. I regularly updated the spreadsheet to reflect real-time reservations and table assignments, allowing the Karma Kitchen team to stay informed and provide a consistent and welcoming experience. Additionally, I shared this information with the serving staff to ensure they were aware of diners’ preferences, further enhancing the warmth and hospitality of Karma Kitchen.
