Global Odyssey 3.0 – Accounts

I participated in the event Global Odyssey 3.0 which was held inside the school and it was a student led event in which I was in the accounts team. I handled the money from the stalls and did bookkeeping for the stalls. We students were given the opportunity to manage this event and experience how a business operates.

My CAS experience will help me gain a better grasp of how businesses operate in the real world and how entrepreneurs outsmart their rivals.

LO1: Identify your strengths and develop areas for growth.

During my CAS experience, I discovered that business is a potential strength of mine. You must be aware of your weaknesses in order to determine what you excel at, what is not your specialty, and where you need to improve. I’d like to improve my strengths and make them stronger.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

We had some difficulties collaborating with the team because everyone has a different idea in their head that needs to be approved by the teachers, which made it difficult to find common ground. This CAS experience helped us develop teamwork.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

The commitment required to complete this activity was that I committed to learning about how a business works in real life. And what challenges might businesspeople encounter.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

In Global Odyssey, I worked with my teammates to manage the financial influx and cash outflow of the stalls that were set up. The idea of teamwork in my CAS experience was really crucial because we were organising a global trip as a team.

LO7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Because we were cashiers for the booths, we were ordered not to steal any money and to submit all revenue made by the stall. We made an ethical decision by not stealing any money from the stalls and that is how we demonstrated Ethical choices during GLobal Odyssey.

Communicators is one of the learner profile attributes that I developed as a result of this CAS experience because I communicated with my team members to ensure that our work was completed correctly and that the event was a success.
