Learning Outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth –
During my preparation for the MMA competition, I had the opportunity to identify my strengths and weaknesses as a fighter. I recognized that I had a strong ground game but needed improvement in striking techniques. To address this, I worked closely with my coach and teammates to develop my striking skills. This process helped me understand the importance of self-awareness and the need for continuous improvement in all aspects of life.
Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process –
Participating in an MMA competition was a significant challenge that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I had to learn and implement new techniques, strategies, and fight preparation routines. Through rigorous training and sparring sessions, I not only developed my fighting skills but also gained mental resilience and discipline. This experience taught me that embracing challenges leads to personal growth.
Learning Outcome 3 – Show commitment and perseverance in the CAS experience –
Commitment and perseverance were essential throughout my MMA journey. I maintained a strict training schedule, balanced school commitments, and often had to overcome physical and mental obstacles. Despite setbacks and injuries, I stayed dedicated to my goal of competing at the state level. This experience reinforced the value of persistence and unwavering commitment.
Learning Outcome 4 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions –
Ethical considerations played a crucial role in my MMA experience. I had to make ethical choices regarding sportsmanship, fair play, and the safety of myself and my opponents. Upholding a strong sense of sportsmanship and adhering to the rules and regulations of MMA were paramount. This experience heightened my awareness of ethics in both competitive sports and daily life.
Overall, my participation in the state-level MMA competition provided me with valuable insights into personal growth, commitment, perseverance, and ethical decision-making. It was a transformative journey that extended beyond the octagon and contributed to my holistic development as an individual.
